This store allows collectibles, DVD’s, etc to be traded in for cash or store credit. Many people come into the store each day and trade items in.I have brought sealed figures (in their original boxes) into this store in the past, and had never had an instance where my items were tampered with, until my most recent visit.I live in New York, so it’s not the easiest thing for me to drive all the way out here to visit the store. On my most recent visit, the store was interested in several of my figures (valued at approximately $30 each) and wanted to give me some cash for them. I politely declined after finding out that I would be receiving about $2.25 cash per figure. These VERY LOW trade amounts are COMMONPLACE for this store. They give out the LOWEST possible trade amounts for your items. The whole point is to make your money, their money.I drove home with the figures, thinking little much else about the transaction. Come to discover after I’ve returned home that the store cut open the sealed figure boxes on 3 of my figures. I did not give them consent to open up the boxes, nor did they notify me that they wanted to open up the boxes. Because I would have told them, “Don’t open them up.”They destroyed the taped seal to three of my figure boxes. That was the original factory seal.I sell my figures elsewhere if I don’t trade them in at The Exchange. And customers DO notice this. The figures lose value because the original seal has been cut.Figuring this act was (rightfully) unfair, I called up this store to ask for a refund on the value that I had lost on these figures, solely because I had brought them into the store for trade. Keep in mind that I did not ask for a FULL refund on the figures, which would have came out to about $90. I only asked for the value that I had lost out on because the figures were opened, which is approximately $20. That’s a reasonable request. In the most ignorant way possible, the male employee who cut open the figure boxes (the receipt says that he’s named ZB) told me that the seal was “literally just Scotch tape”, and that they needed to check inside the box for if I was lying about what was inside. WOW. They just automatically assume that their customers are lying to them? Why would you assume that when you’re giving away CHUMP CHANGE for each trade item you receive?I understand that some customers are untrustworthy, and that the seal on the figure boxes LOOKS like ordinary Scotch tape. But this tape was put onto the box by the original manufacturer. If an online buyer were to look at these figures now, and notice that the tape is missing, they won’t CARE that The Exchange cut open the otherwise-sealed figure. They would notice that the tape has been cut, and demand a lower price for the item. And thus, I have lost value on my figures as the seller.I would have accepted anything, whether it be store credit, cash, or replacement items from this store for what they did, without my permission. But good ol’ ZB, the man who worked on my trade, just laughed on the phone, gave me no compensation or reason to return, and brushed me off with a few uninterested-sounding “I’m sorry”s. The words “I’m sorry” don’t mean anything when you’re not authentically sorry. How do I know that they won’t destroy my trade items next time?I will be following this up with further communications and phone calls to The Exchange. I may even look into if this will hold up in court. They’ve got store security camera footage of ZB opening up my figures, don’t they? 😏I will NEVER return to this store. If you want to trade in random items for cash or store credit, go to your local pawn shop. They’ll provide the same customer service experience to you and will give you just as much cash, if not more, for your items. And they won’t DESTROY your items. This store deserves none of your trade-in items for their profit.Pictures provided down below for how they cut open the taped seals on, not THEIR figures, but MY figures. Also, “ZB” is one of the dumbest names I’ve ever heard.

I love this place and wish they had more locations! Great place to buy movies for cheap prices . They also have a great selection of video games and records.

This was my first visit to the store and the verity of video games and video game consoles is overwhelming. There is hundreds of different titles across basically all platforms to choose from. The employees are very nice and helpful. I had a question about a item the guy didn't have an answer so he took the time to find an answer for me. I would love to revisit the exchange again but it is in Erie and I live near Warren so it's quite a drive for me and because of that I'm not sure when I'll be able to return.
