One of the true hidden gems in RVA. A true multimedia experience. Can't recommend enough, especially if you're into vinyls. Great Laserdisc selection too. Get your VHS and cassettes here as well! It's really a one stop shop for all that rad retro media. And of course be sure to play in the arcade because this is the best pinball in town. I regularly come here to spend hours at the only horror themed arcade in town. Skip the Circuit and stop by here instead.

Primarily a vinyl (record) store. Looks like a very good collection of music. I came for the pinball machines tucked in the back. 13 well maintained pinball machines. At the time of my visit, $10 for all you can play. A great way to spend an afternoon.

Was only in the area for a few hours. Chose to visit Wax Moon over others based on the photos and reviews. So glad I did. I’m not a very social person, but upon walking in the owner make me immediately feel at home, like a friend. I wish I had more time to look around, but glad I didn’t as I would have left broke! Huge selection of stuff. The Halloween pinball machine is amazing! Not sure if/when I’ll be in this area again, but if so I will stop by again!

I had to delete my last review because it was under the wrong account. But I don't mind reviewing Wax Moon again! It's a great store. Every time I've been in there they have been playing loud classic horror movies for background noise instead of music. It's a nice touch! A very unique store that caters more towards collectibles than mainstream releases. Records are typically priced high, but that it because they are mostly rare collectible variants or early/original pressings. It's mostly metal, punk, and classic hip-hop (think NWA, Wu-Tang, etc) but there's a sprinkling of everything. They also sell VHS and DVD/BluRay movies and other merch. Even if you don't buy anything, it's a great local attraction to see. I also see plenty of people at shows wearing Wax Moon merch so even if you aren't big into collecting records you can still check the place out, pick up a Wax Moon t-shirt and support a unique local business while getting a little street cred in the process!
